Debra Reisenthel
President and Chief Executive Officer

Debra has more than 25 years experience in the health care industry, primarily focused on women's and children's health. She has led Novasys Medical as President and CEO since 2001, from the company's early stages of animal studies, human clinicals and FDA clearance to the commercialization of the Renessa procedure. She has funded the company's progress through three rounds of financing with leading medical device venture investors. Based on her fundraising success, she was asked to author a chapter entitled "The Fundraising Process: A CEO's Perspective" in Inside the Minds: Raising Capital for Health Care Companies. Prior to Novasys, Debra was Vice President and General Manager of Tyco Healthcare, Nellcor Division, for more than 10 years leading the entrepreneurial Perinatal business. She provided leadership and vision for the development and commercialization of the division's key product, a breakthrough technology for non-invasive oxygen monitoring of the fetus during labor and delivery. Debra commenced her career as a Respiratory Therapist and later was Assistant Director for Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care at Loyola Medical Center in Chicago, Il. She holds an A.S. in Respiratory Care (CRTT, RRT), a B.S. and an MBA. Debra is a leader in numerous professional organizations, including as a member of the Advisory Board to the Professional Women's Healthcare Alliance. Her work at Novasys has been the subject of both Stanford University and Harvard Business School Cases and she is a frequent speaker on FDA and Reimbursement topics.



Kevin Davidge
Chief Financial Officer (Interim)

Kevin joined Novasys Medical as Interim Chief Financial Officer in September 2009. He possesses an outstanding record of achievement with companies ranging from publicly traded to late stage pre-IPO and start-ups. Kevin is a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and communication skills. Prior to Novasys, he served as Chief Financial Officer for five other medical device/biomedical companies – HX Diagnostics, ZONARE Medical Systems, R2 Technology, Virologic and Athena Neurosciences. His skill set and accomplishments include significant fund raising expertise having raised over $200 million through public and private equity financings, subordinated debt and convertible structures and significant M&A, product acquisition and licensing transactions. In addition, Kevin is well-versed in high growth environments with revenues ramping from zero to $70 million in under five years while attaining profitability and has an extensive background in implementation of financial systems and process improvements to accommodate needs of high growth, dynamic environments. He is operationally focused with developing strong teams within Finance, Information Technology and Human Resource organizations. Earlier in his career Kevin held management roles at Network Equipment Technologies and the international accounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick. He holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.



Charles Carignan, M.D.
Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Charles brings extensive experience in clinical, regulatory and medical affairs with more than 14 years dedicated to medicine and the health care industry. As Chief Medical Officer, Endosurgery and Minimally Invasive Therapies at Boston Scientific, Charles led all aspects of medical and clinical affairs for the Endosurgery group, including women's health, urology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, and oncology. His team supported sales, reimbursement and regulatory strategies with well-designed clinical trials, peer-reviewed journal publications and physician support to increase the speed of new product development. As a strategic executive, Charles evaluated new technologies and companies for potential alliances, partnerships and acquisitions to expand the breadth of Boston Scientific's offerings. At Conceptus, Inc., he was Vice President, Clinical Research and Medical Affairs, responsible for large multicenter clinical trials, leading to expedited review and PMA approval by the FDA of a new female contraceptive device. Charles has conducted physician training in more than 50 countries and participated on various committees of the World Health Organization, the Population Council, the United Nations and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He is credited with numerous peer-reviewed publications focused on women's health. Charles earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University, received his M.D. degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and trained in general surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

Mary Syiek
Vice President of Reimbursement and Compliance
Mary has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, ranging from hospital administration and health plan operation to managed care contracting with major payers. Prior to Novasys, Mary was the Vice President of Clinical Research, Reimbursement & Compliance for Endocare, Inc., a urology-focused medical device firm. While at Endocare, she obtained coverage from major private payers and increased reimbursement from Medicare. Prior to Endocare, she held Vice President positions at PacifiCare/UnitedHealthcare and Matria Healthcare in Contracting and Development respectively. Mary graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in History and Economics and has a Masters degree in Policy Analysis and Administration from the University of South Carolina.

Simon Thomas
R&D, RA/QA and Operations
Simon has over 22 years broad-based experience in biomedical product development and manufacturing (both single-use probes/sensors/catheters and capital equipment) with Tyco Healthcare (Nellcor), GE/Marquette (Corometrics), Novametrix Medical Systems and Physiological Instrumentation (a UK-based start-up). In addition to product development, Simon has extensive experience including clinical studies/biostatistics, regulatory strategy/submissions, intellectual property and manufacturing engineering. Prior to joining Novasys Medical in 2001, he led Nellcor's technical, clinical and regulatory functions in obtaining PMA approval of a breakthrough OB/GYN product. Simon's experience ranges from being the first R&D employee at a start-up to holding the position of Vice President of Engineering at Corometrics, leading a department of 55. Simon obtained his Bachelor of Science with Honors in Physics from Imperial College of Science and Technology in London.

Perry Needham
Vice President of Sales

Perry comes to Novasys Medical with a solid track record of more than 20 years in sales, marketing and sales management, with a strong background in urology and gynecology. For the past three years, Perry was the Vice President of Sales for Caldera Medical, a start-up company in the highly competitive female incontinence surgical market. At Caldera, Perry built an independent sales force of over 100 and led them to record growth. Previously, Perry served as Area Director for Endocare, a publicly traded manufacturer of urological devices, where he led his region to 160% annual growth and established his area as the leading territory in the company. Prior to Endocare, Perry was Director of Sales for Gyrus, a global leader in minimally invasive surgery. His region finished first in the company in 2001 with 83% revenue growth. Perry also held sales and marketing management positions with Karl Storz Endoscopy and Circon-ACMI. Perry holds a BA in Zoology and Biology with honors from the University of Tennessee.
Lauri Campbell
Vice President of Marketing
Lauri joined Novasys Medical with 17 years experience in medical device marketing and sales management in both Fortune 100 and small venture-backed start-up companies. Most recently, she was an independent marketing consultant assisting small companies in launching new products in the sleep disorders, gastroenterology and cardiology markets. Prior to that, Lauri held marketing management positions at Neoforma, a publicly held Internet start-up serving the health care market. Lauri spent three years with Johnson & Johnson’s orthopaedics business unit, serving as Area Manager and Territory General Manager and successfully integrating the J&J and DePuy sales organizations in Northern California after J&J’s acquisition of DePuy. Previously, Lauri held a variety of marketing and product management positions at Abbott Laboratories and Nellcor, where she led the worldwide marketing activities for an $80 million disposable and reusable sensor product line. Lauri has served on the Board of Directors of the Professional Women’s Healthcare Alliance, a non-profit networking organization serving women in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industry, and she was recently named to the Board of Directors as Industry Council Chair for the National Association for Continence, the nation’s largest patient advocacy organization for people suffering from incontinence.  Lauri holds a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
